Authors' Evening: Miles W Hewitt & Elaine Cusack

14 Nov 2019

7pm St George URC, Bridge St

GMDT welcomes acclaimed author Miles W Hewitt, author of the travelogue "Miles & Miles"

Miles Hewitt first visited the “Mystic East” at the age of 20, took copious notes of his adventures – and this was the beginning of a lifetime of travel recorded in journal form.

Four years ago, he collated his journals from 1973 to 2006 and set about writing a creative non-fiction travel novel. There are three further novels at varying stages of development: Kingdom of Bhutan – The Happiest People in the World; Miles & Miles – Little-Known Areas of Europe and Las Negras – A Spirit is Reborn, a fictional travel novel based upon the characters living in a whitewashed Moorish village considered to be a spiritual enclave in South East Spain.

Elaine Cusack has been writing, performing and broadcasting poetry, songs, non-fiction and journalism for over 30 years. Her work has won numerous awards and appeared in various collections as well as on TV and radio.

Her latest book, The Princess of Felling, is an illustrated, poetic memoir inspired by growing up on Tyneside in the 1970s and 1980s. The book resonates with readers of all ages. As actress and Felling lass Jill Halfpenny says in the book:

“Reading Elaine’s stories and poetry takes me back to my childhood in Felling and all of the smells, sounds and tastes of that time. Her words allow me to remember things that I didn’t know I’d forgotten.”

Elaine lives in Whitley Bay and is a Director of local business Happy Planet Creative Arts CIC and co-founder of The North Tyneside Writers’ Circle.

Tickets are at £6.00 including refreshments and they are available at the Chantry TIC, Morpeth Library, St George’s Church and on-line (Ticket Source).
