Alnham & The Shepherd Memorial Stone

Start of walk:  Park on the wide grass verge outside Alnham church, post code NE6 64TL.

How to get there: From the south the approach is via Thropton and Netherton, from east or north leave the A697 at Whittingham and head west. Grid ref,  NT 991109  OS map OL16 The Cheviot Hills

Notes:   There are two possible walks -  6.5 miles and 5.4 -  weather on the day may help decide which route we follow. The walk is over farm tracks grassy paths and the Salters Road.  There are one or two boggy sections and some stiles to cross .There will be great views over open countryside and a visit to the memorial erected in memory of Jack Scott and Willie Middlemiss who died in a blizzard in 1962. 


Morpeth Footpaths Society is a social group of walkers from the town of Morpeth and further afield who meet throughout the year for a regular walking programme, exploring and enjoying the fantastic countryside of Northumberland and at times its surrounding counties.


How to join: If you would like to join us on a walk to experience what it is all about, choose from one of the many walks you would like to accompany us on.


During the walk, you will be introduced to other walkers and one of our committee members will be able to answer any questions you may have.  As a guest member, a nominal sum of 1 is required to ensure you are covered by our walking insurance.  Any guest who fails to pay, is not covered.


A maximum of 2 walks can be taken as a guest and full membership would be expected thereafter.
