In Bloom

In Bloom

Over the years - Morpeth has had considerable success in both the regional Northumbria in Bloom and the national Britain in Bloom competitions organised by the RHS - and when you see the floral displays

  • in the on-street planters
  • the hanging baskets displayed by shops, pubs and businesses in the town centre
  • Carlisle Park - and the smaller parks and open spaces

 - you can begin to see why.

In 2018 -

Morpeth is representing North East England in the "Town" category in the national Britain in Bloom competition - and we are looking forward to the results being announced on 19th October (watch this space!)

We have already done well in the regional Northumbria in Bloom competition:

Morpeth won Gold and Best in Town Category

Carlisle Park won Gold and Best in Category

Gold plus Best in Conservation Project category won for River Wansbeck in Morpeth

Abbeyfields School, Benmar House, Heighley Gate Garden Centre, the Bus Station and the Sanderson Arcade & Chamber of Trade all won Gold

And New Life Christian Centre. the Waterford Lodge and St Christopher's House all won Silver Gilt with their first ever entries

… and Morpeth was in the top three for the Best Overall award

In 2013 -

the last time we were in the national Britain in Bloom competition - we were very successful

Morpeth was awarded a Gold Medal along with the City of London and Newquay in the Best Town category – but were also the outright winners in the category!

Morpeth & District Chamber of Trade and the Sanderson Arcade won outright the RHS Commercial Award in competition across all categories

Morpeth shared the RHS Young Peoples Award with Dartmouth and Prestatyn

And we were one of just six places in the country to receive a commendation for the work undertaken in this year’s RHS theme of Edible Britain

Our success

is due to tremendous partnership work including Morpeth Town Council, Morpeth & District Chamber of Trade, Heighley Gate Garden Centre, Northumberland CC, Greater Morpeth Development Trust, King Edward VI High School (KEVI), the Morpeth Millennium Green - and many more
