Morpeth welcomes the Tour of Britain!
The OVO Energy Tour of Britain will pass through Morpeth on Monday 4th September as Stage Two of Britain’s premier road cycling event takes place in the Northumberland.

To mark the Tour passing though Morpeth streets, we have launched Tour De Morpeth bringing together various activities, competitions & in store offers throughout the week in celebration.

Between now and race day….
The winner - chosen at random on 4th September after Tour of Britain riders have passed through our Morpeth streets – will win an amazing DiamondBack Sprint Racing Bike worth over £400!
On the day…..
From 10am Head for Carlisle Park for family-friendly fun-packed activities laid on by Active Northumberland, a BMX stunt display team in the skate park – and the Town Council paddling pool will be open. Then on the Market Place there’ll be a climbing wall and live music in the marketplace.
12noon – 2pm Sims Cycle Workshop will be demonstrating their new range of Raleigh electric bikes in the Riverside Leisure Centre
1pm - 3pm KEVI Steel Band playing on the Market Place - the finale to the 2017 Music in the Market Place programme
2pm - 4pm Meet the Mayor: join the Mayor and Mayoress in the Town Hall for a cup of tea and a slice of cake. There will be a choice of 16 cakes sourced from ten local cafes!
c 4pm Winner of the "golden bikes" competition will be announced on the Market Place by the Mayor and Ian Simpson on Sims Cycle Workshop who is donating the DiamondBack Sprint Racing Bike prize
And we're hoping to have a #landart installation in place at the football field ("Wembley") at Stobhill
A full road closure will be in place for a period at any time between 14:00-15:30, which will affect access by cars to the Train Station. If travelling by train, you will need to arrive at the station before the road closure. Please leave plenty of time when planning your journey as routes around Morpeth are likely to be busy around this period.
There is no roadside parking on the race route, but there are numerous car parks dotted around the town centre.
