11am - 3pm Annual Picnic in the Park - family fun and entertainment organised by GMDT
THE WHOLE EVENT HAS BEEN BROUGHT FORWARD AN HOUR TO AVOID CLASHING WITH THE WORLD CUP FINAL WHICH STARTS AT 4pm
Admission to the event will be FREE and the activities will be centred around the bandstand area and extend onto the grassy areas of Carlisle Park. People are encouraged to bring their own picnic, however there will be various catering vans on site and a barbecue provided free of charge by Morpeth Churches Together
The themes this year draw on two centenaries: Women’s Suffrage and the End of World War I
Suffragette Tea Room in the Bowling Pavilion - with tea and cake!
Community Art Project – with children will be making Suffragette rosettes this year.
Time Bandits will create a WWI trench and have “over the top” training sessions for everybody to take part in. They will also bring food from that time - for example bully beef! And tell stories and read poetry relevant to the period.
Plus a free BBQ from Churches Together

And throughout the day take part in activities and watch demonstrations on Army Cadets’ Climbing Wall and Encampment, Bouncy Castle, Bowling Demonstrations and taster sessions (Morpeth Bowling Club), Community Art Project – children making Suffragette rosettes this year, Football Coaching, Guide Dogs, Medieval Tile Making, Morpeth Electric Bike Company, NCT Baby Changing and Feeding Tent Northumbria Community Policing with quadbike, Old English Falconry, Pet Grooming Tips, Suffragette Tea Room and Ballot, Table Top Sales, Tennis Taster Sessions (Morpeth Tennis Club), Time Bandits WWI Encampment, Toddlers’ Fitness Coaching, Whitehouse Farm: small animal petting area, Woodhorn Matters
